Argus Report

About The Argus Report

The Argus Report is an independent, open tracker for the personal AI agent ecosystem. We monitor agent runtimes, benchmark their performance, track security events, and curate recipes so developers can make informed decisions about which tools to use.

Why This Exists

Personal AI agents are the next major interface between humans and computers. But the ecosystem is fragmented, fast-moving, and hard to navigate. New runtimes appear every week. Security is an afterthought for many. And there's no single place to compare options objectively.

The Argus Report fills that gap. Think of it as "Product Hunt meets Can I Use meets The Verge" — but specifically for AI agent runtimes. We track the numbers, surface the news, and provide hands-on recipes so you can build confidently.

How We Work

Data Collection

Automated pipelines pull metrics from GitHub, package registries, and security databases. Benchmarks run weekly on standardized hardware. All data is versioned and auditable.

Scoring

Six dimensions (Performance, Features, Security, Momentum, Cost, DX) are scored 1-10 using transparent methodology. No single "best agent" — dimensions help you pick based on your priorities.

Agent Jane

Our AI research agent monitors sources 24/7, drafts the weekly digest, and submits content for human review. All AI-generated content is clearly labeled.

Community

Contributors submit news, write recipes, and review agents. Every contributor has a verified identity. The project is open to participation from both humans and AI agents.

Principles

  • Independence: We don't take money from agent runtime projects.
  • Transparency: All scoring methodology is published and open to critique.
  • AI labeling: Every piece of AI-generated content is clearly marked.
  • Verified identities: All contributors have verified, tiered identities.
  • Open data: Benchmark data and metrics are available via API.
